  • Revell 1:72 SR-71A Blackbird Build

I figure this would be as good a post as any to test out the forum software. I started working on this last night while I was setting up the forums instead of putting work into the models I've already started. This is an older kit, with raised panel lines and a bit of flash on the parts, but still a decent kit, and a great buy at the $11 or so I paid for it thanks to a 50% off coupon from Michaels. I'm fairly impressed with the cockpit detail, and per the instructions, that's where I started. Not including the optional pilot figures, the cockpit is a five-piece affair, with a one-piece tub, two instrument panels (one for the pilot and one for the RSO), two seats, and a control stick. It's a shame that most of the detail will be hidden with the canopies closed, although there is an option to display them open. With the cockpit parts sanded and cleaned, I tested out my new spray booth ventilation system and sprayed everything down with three coats of primer. This is where I left off last night after just an hour of work.
